F. Ray NuñezChief Financial Officer

Ray has been the CFO of American River Ventures since 2007. He brings to ARV over 20 years of experience working with both early-stage venture-backed companies in Silicon Valley and high technology business units with over $500 million per year in annual revenue. Prior to joining American River Ventures, he was the Director of Finance at McDonough Holland & Allen PC, having gone there after a notable sixteen year career at Hewlett-Packard.

At HP, Ray worked in a variety of senior finance management positions as well as a product marketing manager for the HP OpenView services software business. Prior to HP, Ray worked four years as a CPA for Deloitte Haskins & Sells in San Jose, CA.

Ray utilizes his extensive operational and strategic financial skills to ensure that entrepreneurs start their businesses with a sound financial plan. He also works closely with the Managing Directors at American River on all facets of the investment process.

Ray also consults as CFO for leading early-stage companies. He is currently CFO for Residential Control Systems, the leading Smart Grid manufacturer of communicating thermostats, energy management and Home Area Network products for Advanced Metering Infrastucture deployments in residential and light commercial uses.

Ray serves as a Board Member and Treasurer with Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California. He also recently served on the Finance Committee for the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) and previously was a Founding Board Member and Treasurer for the Sacramento chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI).

In Ray’s spare time you will find him fly fishing in Sierras with his two children or cheering on his favorite UCLA sports team.

Ray holds a B.S.C. in Accounting from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
