Janice O'Brien Chief Financial Officer |
Janice O'Brien has been the CFO of American River Ventures since 2002. She has over two decades of experience in financial management positions at Silicon Valley-based technology companies. Prior to joining American River Ventures, she was an independent consultant and acted as Chief Financial Officer for several early-stage start-ups and established businesses. She was Director of Finance at Zip2 Corporation, which was purchased by Compaq in 1999 for $318 million cash - the largest sale of an Internet company for cash. Janice was Chief Financial Officer for RadioMail Corporation, and held senior financial management positions at NET and Tandem Computers. Janice has extensive experience raising strategic and venture capital for start-up companies. She has led merger and acquisition transactions, managed venture-backed companies, worked with entrepreneurs and Boards of Directors, and overseen strategic planning initiatives for financial growth and expansion. Janice is a resource for all portfolio companies, and draws on her range of experiences to help guide sound financial and business decisions. Janice is the co-President and founding member of the local Financial Executives International chapter, a chairperson of TechCoire workshops, and a frequent speaker at various industry forums. When she finds spare time, you will find Janice outdoors - - she enjoys hiking, biking, camping and is just learning to scuba dive. She also travels around the world, often as a leader of a troop of Senior Girl Scouts... taking them to places such as France, Switzerland, Italy, England and Scotland. Janice is also a frequent speaker at the local high school on careers in finance. Janice is a California CPA. She holds a B.S. from CalPoly and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
